- Dear Gloria, Catherine, Teresa, Andrea, Dennis, Samu, Gary, Dan, et al:
-
- Greetings! Just thought you might be interested in another AutoCAD/CPS
- interface program. The challenge here was to find a way to make CPS
- contour a surface just like a certain Geologist perceived it to be.
- I beleive you call this, "digitized contour reconstruction."
-
- My approach was to SKETCH the Geologist's contours with one contour
- level per drawing layer. Each layer was named with the value of its
- contour level. Naming and changing layers as well as re-entering sketch
- mode with the same increment (100') were automated with SuperKey macros.
-
- After all contours have been sketched the drawing is converted to DXF
- format with DXFOUT. Leave AutoCAD (or use SHELL or external commands),
- run CONTEXT.BAS, and give it the name of your DXF file. It will search
- this file for all lines residing on layers with numeric names and
- create an X, Y, Z data file of their endpoints and contour level. This
- DAT file may be fed to CPS with a (3F14.x) format where x equals the
- precision you told AutoCAD to create the DXF file with.
-
- The other file is a game for Gloria. Ask her to show you her
- collection some time...
-
- Sorry I'll miss your users' conference this Spring. Maybe next time?
- In the meanwhile, you're all invited to stop by if you are ever in my
- vicinity.
-
- Enjoy,
-
- Jeff

- P.S.
-
- Still waiting for your new release...
